 About the Museum

The Fetter Museum of Nanoscience and Art presents artworks that are the fruit of the collaboration between artists and researchers at the Bar Ilan Nanotechnology Institute.
The institute is home to collaborative research studies by researchers from the disciplines of biology, physics, chemistry, engineering, and computer sciences.
As part of the museum establishment process, the artists joined this interdisciplinary discourse as a starting point for conceptual journeys of discovery and exploration into far-away realms that expand our knowledge and increase curiosity.

The exhibitions on display throughout the research laboratories building, offer visitors a firsthand experience. Visitors can witness live and dynamic research processes that take place all through the laboratories at the institute, and learn of the dialogue between the researchers and the artists.

The establishment of the Fetter Museum of Art and Nanoscience was made possible by the generous donation of the Fetter family (USA),
in memory of Mr. Joseph Fetter.

?What Is Nano

Nano is a measurement unit that equals one billionth of a meter; When dividing one meter into a billion tiny parts. Nanotechnology allows us to design and manufacture particles and components on a nanometric scale, which can only be observed with the help of special microscopes. In such minuscule dimensions, materials’ properties and traits are completely changed. Nanomaterials are scientifically fascinating structures, and they open a window into a wonderland of the invisible.
In Art, as well as in science, reaching and researching deeper into the heart of matter and essence, leads to new insights and novel worlds.
